More than 300 Vamp 230 feeder manager units protect the medium voltage network at Bangkok's new Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand. Inaugurated in September 2006, the airport is one of the biggest in the world. In the initial phase it has the capacity to handle 45 million passengers and three million tonnes of cargo annually. The number of flight operations per hour is 76. There are two parallel runways and two parallel taxiways to accommodate simultaneous departures and arrivals and a total of 120 parking bays.
The airport's 20 kV power distribution system contains some 86 kilometres of grounded cable, 52 AIS substations, and one GIS substation. Vamp's integrated bay protection and control units are linked to Scada by the British Remsdaq Ltd. The units were delivered from Finland in late 2004 and a factory acceptance test was conducted a few
months later in the UK for the client and consultants by the system integrator Precise International Co., Ltd of Thailand, Remsdaq and Vamp.
