Protection relays
Vamp provides protection relays for power generation,
sub-transmission and distribution in both utility and industrial applications.
In the late 1990s, Vamp was the first company to include arc flash protection in
their protection relays. Today, arc flash protection is an option in all Vamp
protection relays.
The relay range offers basic over-current and earth fault
relays, multi-function protection systems, motor protection relays, feeder and
motor managers as well as line differential and distance managers. The
protection functionality supports IEC and ANSI markets and has comprehensive
metering, fault location, disturbance recording, event logging and control.
Implementation of communication protocols in Vamp relays has
been extensive. The protection relay software incorporates the following
protocols: IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-103, IEC 60870-5-101, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP,
Profibus DP, DNP 3.0, DeviceNet and SPA.
Relay settings are facilitated by Vampset, Vamp's free browser.
Vampset is a user-friendly, free-of-charge relay management software product
developed for the setting, parameterising and configuring of Vamp relays. Relay
parameters, configurations and recorded relay data can be swapped via Vampset
software between the operator's PC and the Vamp relays. The software supports
the COMTRADE format and also provides tools for analyzing relay events,
waveforms and trends from data recorded by the relays, e.g. during a network
fault situation.
The Vampset software also supports TCP/IP communication via an
optional RJ-45 connection. It features true multi-language support and runs on
Windows Vista/XP/2000/NT and Windows 98/95 without any need for configuration of
the PC. Vampset is a choice for the future since it is designed to support
updates and new Vamp products.
